Welcome

Skillful, compassionate support & healing
for children, teens, adults & families*

Now providing online integrative EMDR therapy to clients in California and Florida.

Do you or your children have extra challenges because of trauma, anxiety, adoption and pre-adoption history, attachment problems, foster care, or other challenges? I work with adults, teens, and  children who are struggling with anxiety and depression, out-of-control emotions, a history of abandonment, abuse, and neglect, exposure to domestic or community violence, insecure attachment/RAD, or post-traumatic stress.

If you feel frustrated, overwhelmed, or scared of what the future might hold, therapy can help restore hope, repair attachment wounds, develop new skills and new understanding, and return children to a healthy developmental trajectory. What’s overwhelming becomes manageable, enhancing relationships and personal and family functioning.

In my therapy practice I specialize in integrative EMDR therapy (50- to 75-minute sessions), adjunct EMDR therapy (in addition to your established talk therapy), and EMDR intensives (3-hour blocks weekly, biweekly, or multiple times per week).

  • Trauma/complex trauma/adverse childhood experience/PTSD/recent or ongoing traumatic events in adults, teens, and children (including under-5s).
  • Emotional, physical & sexual abuse survivors
  • Anxiety, phobias, panic attacks
  • Depression
  • Attachment
  • Adoption:  domestic & international, same-race & transracial, fost-adoption, normal challenges & special situations, pre-adoption trauma/abuse/neglect/orphanage care/multiple placements, homeland visit preparation & support, search & reunion preparation & support
  • Families of all kinds:  traditional & nontraditional, adoptive, ART, blended, foster, LGBTQ, multicultural/multiracial, single-parent, transracial, etc.

I ask, “What happened to this person?” not “What’s wrong with this person?”

I am sensitive to multicultural issues as well as racial, religious, sexual, and gender diversity.

My work is compassionate and respectful.

I am keenly aware of and experienced in the transformative potential of parenting.

I believe that the normal and predictable challenges of growing up adopted are not pathological.

I invite you to explore my website to find out more about me and my approach as well as the services I provide.  If any of the issues above resonate with you, please give me a call at (415) 857-2586 to set up a free initial phone consultation to find out how we might work together to help you, your children, and your family thrive.

*On this website the word parents includes parents by birth, adoption, and foster care as well as any other primary caregiver actively parenting the child (e.g., grandparents or other relatives in loco parentis).
